If you're interested in juicing leafy greens and wheatgrass, I'm gunna go ahead and assume you're also interested in juicing for health reasons. To begin with, mastication juicers are most effective with leafy greens because of the process they use. However, if you are juicing because you'd like to get healthy and you are looking to get a great nutritional value from your juice, you should only consider cold-press mastication juicers (their motors run between 80 RPMS and 200 RPMS). The low speed ensures that you don't lose valuable nutrients and enzymes to heat or unnecessary oxidation. Here are my two favorite:

Green Star Juicers are easy to use. They look a little complicated when you open up the box and there's a bunch of pieces you've never seen before, but if you just follow the instructions the first time you'll never need them again! The juicing process on them is very simple. Just cut up your produce so it fits down the chute and juice away. However, because this baby works so hard to extract juice so efficiently, it does juice rather slowly. It's a good idea to alternate between soft and hard produce to make it a little easier for the juicer to squeeze out every drop of juice. If you notice it's having hard time, just loosen the pulp adjustment nozzle. Cleaning the juicer is not hard either. It just takes time. Therefore, this is a fantastic juicer for leafy greens. However, if you don't have the time to dedicate to juicing and cleaning it, it's not the right juicer for you. Don't buy it. You will find that you never use it.

However, Samson Juicers are also fantastic juicers for leafy greens and wheatgrass but they're a bit more practical. The Samson Green Power KPE (also known as the Samson Green Power Kempo) was also designed specifically for wheatgrass and it is also a cold-press mastication juicer (which means it is producing extremely healthy, nutrient-rich juice). However, the juicing process itself it a bit faster than the Green Star. It doesn't clog up or slow down very often and the cleaning process is a bit easier. The entire juicing chamber can be twisted off for easier clean up (as opposed to removing each part separately). The yield on these juicers is slightly lower than that of the Green Stars, however the juice quality is exactly the same. Therefore, if you are looking for a healthy juicer that works great with leafy greens and wheatgrass, but you don't have tons of time to dedicate towards juicing, get yourself a Samson Green Power Kempo. It's truly a very high quality, practical juicer that will have you juicing every day!

Centrifugal juicer

For most people this isn't really a big deal, but for people with health challenges or those looking to get the healthiest juice, these are not the best juicers to get.

Single-Auger Juicers

These are slow speed juicers, meaning less heat and air, hence more nutrients. Unlike the centrifugal juicers, they are also able to juice leafy greens and wheatgrass, which are among some of the most nutritious juices. Many also have the ability to make nut butters, baby food, pasta, frozen desserts, dips, sauces, etc. These juicers are also easier to clean that the centrifugal juicers and are pretty easy to assemble and disassemble. Most are in the 0-0 price range, so are very good value for money, considering that they produce such high quality juice and have multiple functions.

Examples of good single-auger juicers are the Oscar, Omega 8004/8006 and Samson.

Twin-Gear Juicers

These are the top of the range brands with price tags to match. Usually selling for 0-00, they produce the juice with the most nutrients. People with serious health issues are usually advised to buy these juicers, but for most people we don't think they are necessary. Like their single augur counterparts, they also juicer at low speed. The difference though is that they have twin stainless steel gears, so are able to rupture the fruit and vegetable cells more easily. This is what releases the extra nutrients. They are a little more fiddly to put together and clean, but if it's top quality juice that you're after, then this is the machine for you.

Popular brands include the Kempo, Hippocrates, Angel and Green Star Juicers.

Citrus Juicers

As the name suggests, these are dedicated juicers for all things citrus - lemon, grapefruit, and oranges. When making orange juice with a citrus juicer, there is no need to peel the oranges first, so this is a big plus point for most people. If you mostly juice citrus, then this is a must-have juicer.

Popular brands include Remida and Citri-Star.

Manual Juicer

All the above are electric juicers and that is what most people prefer. But manual juicers also have their place. Many like juicing the wheatgrass with a manual juicer, as they claim that the juice is of a higher quality. Other love to take a manual juicer on vacation with them, because the electric juicers aren't really portable. Manual juicers can be quite hard work though. But that is not a bad thing. The most popular brand on the market is the Z-Star Juicer.
